A 21-year-old man, a former student at the Catholic University of Lyon, was recently sentenced to 12 months of probation for filming underneath the skirts of his female classmates. This case, revealed by law enforcement during a criminal investigation, deeply shocked several victims and led to strict judicial measures against the defendant.
The Revealed Facts
The investigation was conducted by the gendarmes of Grand-Lemps, who discovered a series of compromising videos on the student's mobile phone. He had a habit of filming underneath the skirts of young women, both on the campus of the Catholic University of Lyon and on public transport. Four victims were formally identified, all students at the same university.
The young man, aged 21, made these recordings without the knowledge or consent of his victims, constituting a serious violation of their dignity and privacy. Following these revelations, the student was expelled from the university. He also stated during his trial that he had been a victim of sexual violence in the past, a situation which, while troubling, can in no way justify his actions.
Sentencing and Judicial Measures
The Bourgoin-Jallieu Judicial Court pronounced a sentence of 12 months of probation against the young man. In addition to this penalty, several prohibitions and obligations were imposed on the defendant. He is now formally prohibited from contacting his victims, to protect them from any potential future harm. Furthermore, he is required to compensate them for the damages suffered, a financial reparation that, however, cannot erase the trauma caused.
