Welcome to Radio Du Clocher! On this morning of December 16th, we once again place the voice of the Church at the heart of the city. In the face of desecrations and the confusion of our times, our response remains the same: the fidelity, prayer, and courage of our fathers.
Saint Adelaide: The Strength of Empire and Faith
Today the Church venerates a towering figure: Saint Adelaide of Burgundy. Widowed, imprisoned, and then Empress of the Holy Roman Empire alongside Otto I, she never allowed honors to smother her piety.
She used her influence in the service of the Cluniac reform, reminding us that discipline and prayer must take precedence over all else. Dying in 999, she remains a privileged intercessor for divided families and marital trials. A model of resilience for us all!
Gospel of the Day: Deeds, Not Words!
In today's Gospel (Matthew 21:28-32), Jesus challenges us with the parable of the two sons.
- The first initially refuses, but repents and acts.
- The second says, "Yes, Lord," but does nothing.
As Saint John Chrysostom emphasizes, we must beware of religious hypocrisy. Repentant sinners often precede us into the Kingdom! God does not look at our fine promises, but at the sincerity of our conversion and our concrete works.
Current Affairs Chronicle: Between Decadence and Resurgence
Our overview of Catholic news shows two faces of the world:
- Shame Beyond the Rhine: In Germany, Lutheranism sinks into ridicule with "pole dancing" during a service, while a Catholic church in Baden-Württemberg suffers an abject desecration. Hatred of the sacred no longer hides.
- Persecutions: In Indonesia, our Christian brothers suffer Islamist violence, and in Canada, "woke" judicial tyranny hounds Derek Reimer for defending the innocence of children.
- France Under Surveillance: A sad observation: our churches will be guarded by police for Christmas. The Masonic Republic, incapable of ensuring order, transforms our Feasts of Peace into security zones.
- Hope from Chile: Let us salute the victory of José Antonio Kast, a Catholic and father of nine, who proves that a return to order and civilizational values is possible in the face of the Marxist peril.
December 16, 714: The Advent of Charles Martel
Let us never forget where we come from. It was on a December 16th that Pepin of Herstal died, leaving the kingdom of the Franks in a major succession crisis.
In the face of intrigue and division, one man rose: his illegitimate son, Charles Martel. Escaped from prison, a formidable war leader, he managed to reunify Austrasia and Neustria to forge the military instrument that would soon save Christendom from invasion. Providence knows how to raise up the leaders we need!
Let Us Pray Together
Lord, on this day, we entrust to You families torn apart by quarrels. In the image of Saint Adelaide, give us the strength to forgive and to reunite what is scattered.
