Hello dear friends, Napo here! Today, we are on all fronts of the spiritual battle. On the agenda for this editorial: the terrifying laxity of justice in the face of those who threaten our sanctuaries, the miracle of French youth returning en masse to baptism, and the heroic example of Saint Larissa. Read carefully to the end, the world is collapsing, but Christ is King!
Saint Larissa: Heroic Courage in the Face of Pagan Flames
Let us plunge into the year 375, in the icy cold of Crimea, under the bloody reign of the Gothic King Athanaric. The hatred of paganism falls upon the true faith. More than three hundred Christians are locked in their church, surrounded by the flames of a fire lit by barbarians. Their only crime? Having refused to bow before a grotesque idol.
Among them, Saint Larissa, a young Greek woman of unshakable faith. A simple pinch of incense offered to the false gods would have saved her life. But betraying Christ is inconceivable for this ardent soul. Burned alive with twenty-five other martyrs, she united her voice with the choir of the faithful to sing the glory of God until her last breath. Her sacrifice is an absolute beacon for us today: in the face of the idols of the modern world, the Catholic never retreats!
The Gospel of the Day: "Before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8:51-59)
Now for the word of our Lord in the Gospel according to Saint John. Christ declares to the Pharisees: "Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever keeps my word will never see death." And He concludes with this phrase that makes hell tremble: "Before Abraham was, I AM."
My dear brothers, these words pulverize the relativism of our age! Christ does not promise us earthly comfort, He offers us eternity to snatch our souls from the second death. Faced with the crowd blinded by its pride, Jesus publicly and majestically affirms His divinity. He uses the sacred Name revealed to Moses. As Saint Augustine teaches, He does not say "I was created," He says "I AM." Christ is God from all eternity, and our Holy Mother the Church is the sole guardian of this absolute treasure.
Catholic and International News: Napo's Overview
News 1: Judicial Scandal and Terror in Lyon Churches
It is an absolute disgrace for our country! A 28-year-old individual, armed with a knife, has sown terror in recent days in several churches in Lyon, including Saint-Bruno-les-Chartreux and the Basilica of Fourvière. The worst part? Arrested twice with a bladed weapon, he was systematically released by the judge of liberties under a simple judicial supervision! In the face of this revolting state complacency, the security of our sanctuaries and our faithful is sacrificed. How far will this impunity go?
News 2: The French Miracle with the Explosion of Adult Baptisms
The modern world is collapsing, but grace abounds! The Church in France is reaching a historic milestone this year with more than 21,000 catechumens who will receive baptism at Easter. This is a staggering increase of 400% in ten years! These young people, from an uprooted society and often without religious education, thirst for Truth and the Absolute. They see in the Catholic Church the last solid rock of our civilization. Our challenge will be to forge these new spiritual recruits into true soldiers of Christ!
News 3: The Isle of Beauty Resists with Unprecedented Baptismal Fervor
Corsica once again proves its visceral attachment to the Cross! This year, 320 catechumens will be baptized on the island, with nearly a hundred in Ajaccio Cathedral alone. Driven by 18-40 year olds, this dynamic crushes the ambient fatalism. Faced with a society losing its bearings, Corsican youth is returning to Mass, carried by powerful spiritual experiences. The awakening is underway!
News 4: Rome Recalls the Divine Origin of the Hierarchy
No more democratic illusions in the Church! During his last audience, Pope Leo XIV authoritatively recalled that the Catholic hierarchy is not a mere human or associative construct. Relying on Vatican II, the Sovereign Pontiff hammers home that the sacred order of bishops and priests was instituted directly by Jesus Christ to sanctify the world and transmit the faith intact. A salutary slap to all those who would protest against the divine authority of our pastors.
News 5: The Pope Defends Catholic Teaching and the Traditional Mass
In a powerful message to the bishops of France, Pope Leo XIV bangs his fist on the table in the face of the Republic's hostility towards our private schools. He demands the strict maintenance of the "distinctive character" of Catholic education, which is nothing without Jesus Christ. More importantly, Rome calls for urgent liturgical peace and asks bishops to generously welcome the faithful attached to the Traditional Mass (Vetus Ordo). Excellent news for unity and Tradition!
News 6: D'Artagnan's Skeleton Discovered in Maastricht!
French history resurfaces from the bowels of the earth! The remains of the legendary Charles de Batz de Castelmore, the authentic musketeer d'Artagnan, are said to have been discovered under the altar of a very old church in the Netherlands. Having fallen in battle in 1673 for King Louis XIV, this Gascon hero rested among the greats of this world, with a French coin by his side. DNA analyses are underway to confirm this fabulous archaeological find.
Closing Prayer and Call to Combat
In the face of attacks against our churches and the fury of the world, our only weapons remain prayer and absolute fidelity to Christ.
Lord Jesus, we offer You our prayers in reparation for the outrages suffered in our sanctuaries. Deign to send Your holy Angels to protect our parishes and strengthen our courage. Almighty God, grant Your Church the heroic strength to proclaim Your law without ever trembling.
