According to these accounts, the Supreme Pontiff reportedly saw the Lord Himself reveal to him an exceptional will of mercy as the Paschal Triduum approaches. In this dream, the Pope is said to have been granted the authority to proclaim a reduction of the pains of purgatory to a duration of "48 hours."
