According to data provided by this report, fifty clinics have been forced to cease operations since the beginning of 2025. The organization explicitly attributes the closure of twenty of these facilities to President Donald Trump's ratification, last July 4th, of a provision included in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" legislation. This legislative measure had the immediate effect of banning Medicaid funding for facilities performing abortions for a period of one year.
The report written by the abortion organization leaves no ambiguity about the impact of this policy: "Since July 4, the date President Trump signed the 'defunding' provision, 20 health centers have been forced to close." The document also specifies the extent of the damage to their financial structure: "Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 50 Planned Parenthood health centers have been forced to close following the loss of Title X funds and Medicaid reimbursements."
The End of a Public Financial Windfall
