Hello to you, dear friends! This is Napo, delighted to be with you again on Radio Du Clocher, where we put the Church back at the heart of the village! Lord Jesus, at the start of this day, make us firm in faith. Don't forget to like and share, for it is together that we are strong for the Good Lord!
The Saint of the Day: Saint James of the Marches, the Fiery Preacher
Today, we venerate a Franciscan giant of the 15th century: Saint James of the Marches. Born poor, he became a Doctor of Law, then left everything to knock on the door of the Friars Minor in Assisi.
For 50 years, this disciple of Saint Bernardine crisscrossed Europe, from Italy to Hungary, converting hearts by the thousands. It is said that a single one of his sermons was enough to convert dozens of women of ill repute and that he brought 50,000 heretics back to the Church! A formidable inquisitor against error but a humble servant who refused honors, he reminds us that the word of God, carried with zeal, overturns everything in its path.
Gospel Meditation: The Eternal Summer Approaches (Luke 21:29-33)
In today's Gospel, Jesus speaks to us about the fig tree. As soon as it buds, you know that summer is near. My friends, when the world trembles, do not lower your heads! On the contrary, lift up your eyes, for your redemption is drawing near.
The Lord gives us an absolute guarantee: "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away." The Church will weather the storms because she is founded on the Rock. Let us watch and pray, for the Master is at the gate.
Catholic News: Between Persecution and Charity
Let's take a look at what is happening for our Holy Mother the Church:
- Scandal in Brussels: Bishop Anagbe, who came to defend the massacred Christians in Nigeria, was booed by pro-abortion activists in the European Parliament. A disgrace that reveals the face of a Europe deaf to martyrs.
- Charity in Gaza: The 2014 popemobile, transformed into a mobile clinic by Caritas, awaits to cross the border to treat children. The Church is always at the bedside of the suffering.
- Culture and Faith: The publishing house 3 Cœurs is releasing a providential comic book on Our Lady of Guadalupe. A beautiful tool for evangelization this Christmas!
- Apostolic Journey: Pope Leo XIV is in Turkey for the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, calling for peace and family unity in the face of modern excesses.
- Heroism in Pakistan: Father Rico buys the freedom of Christians enslaved in brick kilns. A magnificent work of physical and spiritual liberation.
- Native American History: New documentaries are restoring the truth about the deep Catholic faith of Native American tribes, long before the founding of the USA.
The Page of French History: The Victory of La Vieuville
Let's go back in time to November 28, 1795. In Ille-et-Vilaine, the Battle of La Vieuville saw Republican columns clash with the Chouans of Aimé Picquet du Boisguy.
Despite Republican tricks, the Chouans, lying in ambush, fought a fierce battle for seven hours. Hand-to-hand combat, by the hair, with bayonets! The result? A resounding victory for our lads, with twice as many losses among the Blues. Glory to these Breton peasants who, armed with their rosaries and their courage, stood up to the Republic for God and King!
Prayer and Sending Forth
Let us conclude by turning towards Heaven.
Let us pray for our enemies and for the conversion of those who do not yet know the joy of following Christ.
O Virgin Mary, Guardian of France, grant us the grace to remain standing.
Until tomorrow on Radio Du Clocher, and may the Peace of the Lord be with you!
